17 Co. is a baseball performance brand founded by current professional baseball players John Nester and Casey Harman. John and Casey have been a staple in player development in upstate South Carolina and western North Carolina for the last 10 years. They have helped hundreds of college and professional athletes over the years as well as athletes as young as eight years old. John stepped away from his position as the Minor League Catching Instructor for the San Diego Padres to get back behind the plate after two years of coaching and Casey also began pitching professionally again for the 2018 season and have had the best seasons of their careers using the same training methodology they've developed continue to use to train their athletes with 17 co.

John Nester - Head of Player Development, Hitting and Catching

John has been playing or coaching at the professional level since 2010 after being drafted out of Clemson University by the Oakland Athletics.  He has since spent time playing throughout many different levels of minor league baseball as well as spent two years as the Minor League Catching Instructor for the San Diego Padres (2016,2017).

 

Casey Harman - Head of Player Development, Pitching

Casey is a South Burlington, Vermont native and chose to move south for a standout career at Clemson University. He was the ace of the staff his junior year before being drafted by the Chicago Cubs. Casey quickly made his impact at the professional level climbing the minor leagues quickly in his first couple seasons. Casey has pitched in different leagues in the United States as well as Mexico and currently Taiwan. 

 

Tre Smith - Hitting and Fielding Instructor 

Tre spent 2 years in the CCBC Catonsville Cardinals program where he received honors for All-Conference, All-Region, and All-Maryland JUCO. He transferred to Newberry where he finished his degree and again was a key player for the team. During his 4 year college career, Tre hit .350 and drove in 152 RBI.

 

Tommy Thorpe - Pitching Instructor

Tommy is a product of Oregon University. He pitched for the Chicago Cubs organization up to AAA and is currently pitching for the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball.

 

Taylor Grover - Pitching Instructor 

Taylor is originally from North Augusta SC. After 3 years of playing baseball at USC-Aiken he was drafted in 2013 by the Boston Red Sox. He has been pitching professionally for the past 7 years with the Boston Red Sox, Arizona Diamondbacks, and is currently part of the Baltimore Orioles organization.
